PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS PUBLISHED:

Battery for Health Improvement (BHI)

I am the coauthor of the Battery for Health Improvement (BHI), a psychological test for the assessment of the interaction between physical health and emotional health.  The BHI was published in 1996 in English and Spanish by Pearson Assessments, in written, audio and computer administered forms.  Pearson Assessments is the exclusive distributor of the MMPI and the largest publisher and distributor of psychological inventories in the world.  The validation of the BHI was a 10 year long research project which involved the administration of psychological test batteries to over 4500 medical patients and community subjects at about 106 sites in 36 states.  It is intended for use as a means of psychologically assessing medical patients.  The BHI is also listed as one of the recognized psychological tests in the 1998 Chronic Pain Guidelines developed by the Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation.

Battery for Health Improvement 2 (BHI 2)

The BHI 2 was published in 2003 in English and Spanish by Pearson Assessments, in written, audio and computer administered forms.  It is a major revision to the BHI, and which includes mores scales and more sophisticated interpretive software.  The BHI 2 is listed as one of the recognized psychological tests in the 2003 Chronic Pain Guidelines developed by the Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation.

Brief Battery for Health Improvement 2 (BBHI 2)

The BBHI 2 was published in 2002 in English and Spanish by Pearson Assessments, in written, audio, and computer administered forms.  The BBHI 2 is a short version of the BHI 2, which can be administered in 7-10 minutes, and assess pain, functioning, stress symptoms, depression, anxiety and defensiveness.  The BBHI 2 is listed as one of the recognized psychological tests in the 2003 Chronic Pain Guidelines developed by the Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation.
